Working for Save the Children Canada as a Chief Finance Officer, Basharat Hussain has more than 20 years of leadership experience in international development in Canada, Asia, and Africa. With an MBA from Cardiff University, Wales, with majors in Financial Management and Management of Change, he has held various senior roles in finance and operations, including Chief Finance and Operations Officer at Aga Khan Foundation East Africa, Finance Director at Aga Khan Foundation Afghanistan and Program Manager Finance and Administration. Most recently, Basharat held the role of Global Director, Program Finance at Right to Play International.

In the various finance lead roles, Basharat has always been part of decisions around head counts, compensation, promotions, role changes, pay bands and grades.  Basharat has been involved at policy development level.
